Poppy Morris
Is an Illustrator based on the Isle of Wight
Hello! I'm Poppy, an illustrator with a passion for both history and the natural world, themes that frequently appear in my work. I'm fascinated by the natural world and our connection to it. I'm constantly intrigued by history and the curiosity it opens up within me. I love the idea of my work creating voice for stories both past and present, bringing them to life through my illustrations.

I work with traditional methods, constantly thinking about how I can push and develop my working process.

Placement at Ventnor Heritage Centre
June - current
I am currently doing a six month placement at Ventnor Heritage Centre - made possible by Bave Island. Here, I have been able to complete a variety of tasks including, working with their archive collection to ensure all records are correct and up to date, creating illustrations for written articles, and working to set up an online social media presence. With lots more tasks to come in the following months.

Assisting groups at a primary school
Once a week I help out at lunch time for an hour with an art club led by a teaching assistant with a small group of children. They partake in a variety of art and crafts, including making button books, modrock flowers and paintings for displays. Recently, the children had a whole afternoon of the art club, painting the outside benches and seating areas. I drew a mini leaf mural onto a domed seating area for the children to paint over.
